Raney Machine Tools supplies a complete range of surface grinding and cylindrical grinding machines for tool rooms, die and mould shops, and precision production workshops. Our surface grinder range spans manual hand-feed models for small tool rooms, servo-driven machines with micro feed for high-precision work, and fully hydraulic surface grinders with automatic cross feed and Z-rapid for production grinding.
Every surface grinder in our range is manufactured to exact tolerances: parallelism 0.010/300mm on all axes, squareness 0.010/300mm (X-Y-Z), flatness 0.010/300mm, and spindle run-out of 0.010mm. Our hydraulic cylindrical grinders offer centre heights of 150mm and 175mm with grinding lengths from 300mm to 1,500mm, infinitely variable table speed, and automatic infeed at reversal.
Ground to 0.010 mm Accuracy
All surface grinders maintain parallelism, squareness, and flatness within 0.010/300mm across all axes. Spindle run-out held at 0.010mm. Vertical micro feed (0.002mm on servo models) enables precision finishing.

We supply four types: manual surface grinders, servo drive surface grinders, hydraulic surface grinders, and hydraulic cylindrical grinding machines. Surface grinder table sizes range from 175x350mm to 500x1000mm. Cylindrical grinders handle workpieces up to 1,500mm grinding length.
Manual surface grinders use handwheels for table traverse, suited for tool rooms and small-batch work. Servo drive surface grinders use motorised feeds for consistent table speed and repeatability without the cost of a full hydraulic system. Hydraulic surface grinders use hydraulic power for smooth, stepless table traverse, best for production grinding where surface finish and cycle consistency matter.
Our surface grinders achieve a grinding accuracy of 0.010mm over 300mm of table travel. Actual accuracy depends on the grinding wheel condition, workpiece material, coolant use, and operator technique. Servo drive and hydraulic models provide more consistent results than manual machines due to uniform table traverse speed.
Surface grinders finish flat surfaces. Cylindrical grinders finish round surfaces: shafts, pins, spindles, rollers, and similar cylindrical parts. If your workpiece is round and needs a precision outside diameter finish, you need a cylindrical grinder. Our hydraulic cylindrical grinders handle workpieces up to 1,500mm length.
Grinding wheel sizes vary by machine model, typically ranging from 175mm to 355mm diameter. All our surface grinders use standard abrasive grinding wheels with the appropriate bore size for the wheel guard and spindle adapter. Our team can recommend the right wheel specification for your material and finish requirements.
Hydraulic surface grinders and cylindrical grinders include integrated coolant delivery systems. Manual and servo drive surface grinders may require a separate coolant tank (available in our Accessories range). Coolant is important for surface grinding to prevent thermal damage to the workpiece and extend wheel life.
All our grinding machines operate on 3-phase industrial power (415V, 50 Hz). Motor ratings range from fractional HP on smaller manual surface grinders to several HP on large hydraulic models. The spindle motor, hydraulic pump, and coolant pump each have separate drives on hydraulic machines.
